Notice board and travellers at a small island port in southern Vietnam in the morning

Update log · Latest entry 15 October 2026 (scheduled)

What's changed: the Phu Quoc log, newest first

One table per period, newest first. Each row gives the date of the change, what changed, who it affects and where the information comes from, with a link to the page that explains it.

How this log works

A row goes into the log when a change has a date and a source we have read: a legal text, an operator's own page, or a report in a national newspaper. Rows marked scheduled or announced describe something that had not happened, or had not been confirmed, when we checked. The source column names the publisher and the publication date; the full links are on each update page and in the source lines below each table.

The log is written for people about to travel, so the "who it affects" column is practical: a change in provincial boundaries matters to anyone filling in an address, while a new route matters only to people flying from that city. When a row says "everyone", it means every visitor arriving on the island.

Announced, not yet confirmed

These items were announced by an operator or reported in the press, but when we checked we had not seen confirmation that they happened. They stay here until we do.

  • Seoul–Phu Quoc and Busan–Phu Quoc flights by the island's new airline: announced for spring and September 2026. The airport and a March 2026 press report give different start months for Seoul.
  • Kaohsiung–Phu Quoc: announced for October 2026.
  • Second runway, 3,300 m long: target completion 3 September 2026. Reports we read up to 1 October did not say it had been completed.
  • Restart of tourist canoe trips to the An Thoi islands: no official notice found as of 12 October 2026.
  • A new site for the Duong Dong night market: being surveyed as of 1 April 2026; no site named since.

When this log is the wrong place to look

The log records changes, not live conditions. On the morning you travel, a boat can be held in port by a weather warning that never makes the news, and a flight can be retimed without any announcement. For the day itself, use the operator's own booking page or ticket office and the notices at the port or airport. Use the log a few weeks before you go, to see which rules and routes have moved since your guidebook or your last visit, and again a few days before, to catch anything new.

Common questions

Questions readers send

Why are some months missing from the log?

We only add a row when there is a dated change with a source we have read. Months with no row had no change of that kind that we found.

Does a row in the log mean the change is still in force?

Not necessarily. A row records what changed on that date. Later rows can reverse or replace it, which is why the log is ordered newest first and each update page shows when its sources were last checked.

Can I suggest a change for the log?

Yes. Use the contact form and include the source: a link to the official notice or the newspaper report, and its date. We add it once we have read the source ourselves.
