Ferries to Phu Quoc: timetables as read on 12 October 2026

Fast boats and the car ferry still link Rach Gia and Ha Tien with Bai Vong on Phu Quoc's east coast. What changed in 2025–2026 is around the ports and the weather rules; the timetables below are what the operators' own pages showed on 12 October 2026.

Where the boats leave and arrive

Boats to Phu Quoc leave from Rach Gia, from the terminal on Nguyen Cong Tru street, and from Ha Tien, from the terminal on Kim Du street in To Chau. Both towns are now in An Giang province. Fast boats and the car ferry arrive at Bai Vong, on Phu Quoc's east coast; An Giang's tourism department puts Bai Vong about 6.5 km from the airport.

Bai Vong works through temporary ports: in August 2025 Viet Nam News reported five of them operating under provisional licences, and the province asked the Ministry of Construction to add them to the national seaport plan. A terminal once planned at Mui Dat Do, in the south-west, was dropped because the land went to APEC 2027 facilities.

An Thoi, in the south, is where canoes and tour boats leave for the An Thoi islands. Viet Nam News, in August 2025, described two separate facilities: an international passenger port costing over VND 1.6 trillion, put into service in February 2024, and the older An Thoi port, handed to provincial management in January 2025 and described as deteriorated after years of disuse and short of channel buoys. On 7 August 2026 Mat Troi Ha Long Co., Ltd. took over operation of An Thoi port for two years after winning an auction, according to Tuoi Tre, which listed the port's figures as a 3,000 DWT berth and 360,000 passengers a year. The report did not describe changes for passengers.

Other fares listed: on Rach Gia sailings, 265,000 VND for passengers over 60 and 225,000 VND for children aged 6–11; on Ha Tien sailings, 182,000 VND over 60, 160,000 VND for people with a disability and 148,000 VND for children aged 6–11. Both pages ask passengers to be at the port 45 minutes before departure.

Superdong

Superdong runs fast boats on both the Rach Gia and Ha Tien routes; a 2025 report gave its fleet as 16 fast boats and two ferries. Its route pages did not display a timetable when we read them on 12 October 2026, so we do not print times here. Its own booking site, online.superdong.com.vn, is the place to check sailings for your date.

Weather suspensions

All boats can be stopped by the port authority when the sea is rough. On 20 November 2025 fast boats and ferries from Rach Gia and Ha Tien to Phu Quoc, and between Rach Gia and Nam Du, were suspended after the Kien Giang maritime port authority's notice, with north-east wind gusting to levels 7 and 8 and waves of 1.5–2.5 m forecast. A Superdong captain said boats would run again after a new notice once the weather settled. On 13 July 2024, in the south-west monsoon, all boats and ferries on these routes were suspended; on a normal day at that time about 70 sailings carried about 20,000 passengers.

Suspensions can therefore come in either monsoon: north-east winds around the end of the year and south-west winds in mid-year.

When the boat is the wrong choice

A boat crossing is a poor plan if you have a flight to catch on the same day from Phu Quoc or from Ho Chi Minh City: a single weather notice can cancel every sailing. It is also a poor choice on days with a wind warning if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness, and for travellers who need a fixed arrival time for a hotel transfer. Flying is the alternative on most days, though not from Rach Gia: the airport's list of domestic direct flights, read on 12 October 2026, does not include it.

What to check before you go

  • Book with the operator directly and confirm the departure time printed on your ticket.
  • Check for weather notices the day before and on the morning of travel, in both monsoon seasons.
  • Allow a buffer of a day before any onward flight if you depend on the boat.
  • Arrive at the terminal early; one operator asks for 45 minutes.
  • Plan the road from Bai Vong to your hotel; the port is on the east coast, not in Duong Dong.
  • For boats from An Thoi to the islands, read our boat-safety page first.
