About this log: how an update gets here
Good Morning Phu Quoc is an English-language log of changes that affect a trip to Phu Quoc. This page explains how we choose what to log, which sources we use, what our dates mean and how we correct mistakes.
What gets logged
An item goes into the log when three things are true: something has changed or been announced, the change has a date, and it alters what a visitor needs to do or know. A new route, a rule on boats, a change of airport operator or a market losing its site all qualify. A new resort, a festival or a promotion does not, unless it changes access, rules or transport for other visitors.
We write each update the same way: a short block stating what changed, since when, who it affects and the source; then the detail; then the points worth checking before you travel. Every update page also says when the information on it is the wrong tool for your question.
Where the sources come from
We prefer the primary text: resolutions and laws, ministry and provincial portals, the airport operator's pages and the timetables published by ferry and airline companies. When a decision is only reported, we use national newspapers and agencies and name them, with their publication dates, in the source line under each section.
We do not use travel blogs, booking platforms or social media as the source for a number, a date or a rule. When the only source for something is commercial, we either leave it out or describe it as an unconfirmed report. When two reliable sources disagree, we show both and say they differ.
How dates work
- The line above each headline gives the date the change was announced or took effect.
- The "checked" line under a section gives the date its sources were last read.
- The byline gives the date the page was last revised.
- "Announced" or "scheduled" means we have not yet seen the change confirmed in operation.
Timetables and fares are copied from the operator's page on the date shown and marked as reference figures. They describe that day only.
What this site does not do
Good Morning Phu Quoc does not sell tours, tickets or transfers, does not take bookings and does not act as an agent for any airline, ferry company or hotel. Companies are not charged for being mentioned, and a mention is not a recommendation: a company appears only when it is the subject or the source of a change, such as an airline opening a route or a ferry operator publishing a timetable.
We do not rank companies or places. The site also leaves some subjects to others on purpose: there is no events calendar, no food guide and no list of travel companies here. We do not answer on behalf of airlines, ferry operators or government offices.
Advertising
Some pages carry spaces marked as advertising. They are kept apart from the text, labelled, and do not affect which updates we publish or how we describe them. The about page carries none.
Corrections
If a fact, date, figure or link on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us through the form on the contact page. Please include the page, the sentence concerned and, if you have one, a link to the official source or newspaper report that shows the correct information.
We check the source ourselves before changing anything. When we correct a fact, we change the text, update the "checked" date of that section and the page date, and, if the correction changes what a reader would do, add a dated line to the What's changed log. We do not silently remove an item that turned out to be wrong; we replace it with the corrected information.
