How often is Good Morning Phu Quoc updated?
We add an item when an official text, an operator or a national newspaper publishes a change that affects visitors. There is no fixed schedule; each page shows the date it was last revised and the date each section's sources were last checked.
Can I book a ferry or a tour through this site?
No. The site does not sell tickets or tours and does not take bookings. The ferry and flight pages name the operators and show what their own pages listed on the date checked, so you can book with them directly.
Why do some items say a change was announced but not confirmed?
New flights, building deadlines and rule changes are often announced weeks or months ahead. Until we find a report that the change actually happened, we label it as announced and keep the source date next to it.

What's changed
Why are some months missing from the log?
We only add a row when there is a dated change with a source we have read. Months with no row had no change of that kind that we found.
Does a row in the log mean the change is still in force?
Not necessarily. A row records what changed on that date. Later rows can reverse or replace it, which is why the log is ordered newest first and each update page shows when its sources were last checked.
Can I suggest a change for the log?
Yes. Use the contact form and include the source: a link to the official notice or the newspaper report, and its date. We add it once we have read the source ourselves.

Special zone and province
Is Phu Quoc still part of Kien Giang province?
No. Kien Giang was merged into An Giang on 1 July 2025, and Phu Quoc became a special zone of An Giang on the same day. Many signs, websites and bookings still use the old name, and they refer to the same island.
Do I need to change my visa or booking because of the merger?
We have not seen any instruction asking travellers to do so. Documents issued before the rearrangement stay valid until they expire, and the airport and port have kept their names.
Are Tho Chau and the Nam Du islands part of Phu Quoc?
No. Tho Chau is its own special zone, and Nam Du and Hon Son belong to the Kien Hai special zone. Check transport to them separately.
Is Rach Gia still where the ferries to Phu Quoc leave from?
Yes. Rach Gia is now a ward of An Giang and, according to reports on the merger plan, the province's administrative centre. Fast boats and the car ferry still run from Rach Gia and Ha Tien to Bai Vong on Phu Quoc.

Visa exemption
Can I visit Phu Quoc without a visa?
Yes, for up to 30 days, if you arrive on the island directly from abroad by air or sea, or transit airside without entering Vietnam elsewhere. The airport operator and Vietnam Airlines also describe a passport valid for six months and an onward ticket within 30 days.
Can I fly from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City on the 30-day exemption?
No. The exemption applies only on the island. Travel to the mainland needs a visa, an e-visa or a nationwide exemption that covers your passport.
Did the 2025 special-zone change end the exemption?
We found nothing to say so. The exemption has not been restated under the island's new name in any text we found, but the airport operator and Vietnam Airlines still describe it as current as of October 2026.
How long can an e-visa be?
Up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, since 15 August 2023. Phu Quoc airport and Duong Dong port are on the list of entry points for e-visa holders.

Airport and APEC 2027
When will the new Phu Quoc terminal open?
The latest report we read, VietnamPlus on 1 October 2026, gives operation from April 2027, with a technical flight on 30 December 2026. A draft resolution reported in August 2026 gave March 2027. No official opening date had been announced when we checked.
Who runs Phu Quoc airport now?
Since 00:00 on 1 January 2026, the Phu Quoc branch of Mat Troi Airport Joint Stock Company, under licences issued on 25 December 2025.
When is APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc?
The Leaders' Week is expected on the island in 2027, but no dates had been published as of 12 October 2026.
Do the works affect flights today?
We found no official notice of changes for passengers. The existing terminal is busy at peak times, and road works south of the airport can slow the drive.

Boat safety rules
Are boat trips to the An Thoi islands running after the July 2026 accident?
Operators paused them from 12 July 2026. A travel agency announced a restart from 23 July, but we found no official notice confirming it. We could not confirm a restart as of 12 October 2026.
What do the new rules require of boat operators?
Registered and inspected boats, no overloading, life jackets and rescue gear, certified crews, and no departures in bad weather. Border guards check passenger lists and stop departures under weather warnings.
Does the Hon Thom cable car depend on these rules?
The directive concerns boats and waterway traffic. The cable car is a separate service and is not covered by this page.
What number do I call in an emergency at sea?
112 is Vietnam's search-and-rescue number; 113 is police and 115 is medical emergency.

Flights and routes
Which new international routes to Phu Quoc started in 2026?
Phu Quoc–Taipei started on 29 March 2026, five flights a week. A daily Singapore service was scheduled from 25 July 2026, and a Moscow route by Aeroflot is due from 15 October 2026. Seoul, Busan and Kaohsiung were announced; we have not confirmed their first flights.
Is there a direct flight from Hai Phong to Phu Quoc?
A daily route was scheduled from 25 July 2026, leaving Hai Phong at 10:00 according to the launch announcement; we have not seen a report of the first flight. Check the airline's current timetable for your date.
Does transiting in Ho Chi Minh City cancel the island visa exemption?
Only if you clear immigration there. The airport and Vietnam Airlines describe an airside transit to Phu Quoc as still qualifying.

Ferries and mainland links
How long is the boat from Ha Tien to Phu Quoc?
About 1 hour 20 minutes by fast boat, according to one operator's page read on 12 October 2026, and about three hours by the car ferry.
Where do boats arrive on Phu Quoc?
At Bai Vong, on the east coast, not in Duong Dong. Boats to the An Thoi islands leave from An Thoi in the south.
Are the fares on this page current?
They are what the operators' pages showed on 12 October 2026, marked as reference figures. Check the operator's booking page for your date.
Do ferries stop in bad weather?
Yes. The port authority suspends sailings in rough seas; it happened on 20 November 2025 and on 13 July 2024. Boats resume after a new notice.

Night market site
Is the Phu Quoc night market closed?
The lease on its Bach Dang street site ended on 31 December 2025 and the temporary extension ended on 28 February 2026. On 1 April 2026 the special zone said it would keep a night market and was studying new sites. We found no later official notice of a new site as of 12 October 2026.
What are the night market's opening hours?
We do not publish hours, because the market has lost its lease and no new site had been announced when we checked. Hours quoted in older articles date from before the change.
Is the Dinh Cau shrine affected?
No. The shrine is a separate place at the river mouth; only the market site on Bach Dang street was covered by the lease.
